Real Madrid has suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted side, Cadiz, in the weekend. The loss showed a lack of creativity in the middle of the park.
Real has good wingers in the form of Vinicius, Asensio, Rodrygo and Hazard (currently injured). But they lack someone who can create chances from the middle of the park.
Casemiro plays as a defensive midfielder who does his job pretty well. Modric used to play as the creative midfielder over the years but his age has now taken a toll on his play meanwhile Kroos is a great passer and can give assists but he can’t dribble past defenders and create magic in the midfield. Isco is seen as a player who is capable of creating chances from the middle but his form hasn’t been consistent.
So now Zinedine Zidane wants to sign a creative midfielder, reportedly Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes. After his transfer last January, the former Sporting CP man has taken the Premier League by storm. He was vital in United’s third-place finish last season.
It would be difficult to lure away the Portugal international from Old Trafford but Zidane has a trump card in his hand.
After Manchester United lost 6-1 to Tottenham Hotspur, the United dressing room has been in trouble and the most affected has been Bruno. He saw himself replaced in the half time. There have been some issues between Bruno and United manager Solskjaer as well.
Zidane sees this as the perfect opportunity to sign the creative midfielder for Real Madrid. Manchester United spent around £47m to sign the 26-year-old, so Real Madrid would have to shell out some hefty cash to sign him from United after such a short stint. He would likely cost around £70m if Florentino Perez finally decides to go for a creative midfielder.
Real Madrid has been quiet in the transfer market with no new signings this season. So Perez definitely has the cash to pull off this transfer but it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid can convince Bruno Fernandes to be a part of the Bernabeu project.
