Paris Saint-German visited Barcelona for the 1st leg of the Round of 16. Everyone wanted to see an even contest, but it turned out to be the opposite of that. Lionel Messi opened the scoring with a penalty, and it seemed Messi would once again set the football pitch on fire.
But what happened afterwards was completely different. French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe decided to take matters into his own hands and scored a brilliant hattrick, and PSG won the game comfortably by a 4-1 margin.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, who hails from the same country as Mbappe, watched the match, and he said he wasn’t surprised to see the Frenchman demolish Barcelona.
Zidane said when asked if he watched PSG’s win: “I watch all the games and I always enjoy when I see good things. I’m just like all fans in that sense,”
When he was asked if he was keen on signing the French star, Zidane answered: “I will not go into that. Yes, everyone talks about the game, and what Mbappe did does not surprise anyone because I know him.”
“I watched it as a fan and, to make it clear, the most important thing is what we have to do tomorrow and the rest I watch with pleasure and attention.”
Kylian Mbappe has been a target of Real Madrid for a long time. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants Zidane to convince the Frenchman to come to the Bernabeu.
Mbappe hasn’t signed a contract extension till now with PSG, and his contract runs out in the summer of 2022. If Mbappe decides not to sign an extension, PSG may well decide to sell him in the upcoming summer rather than losing him for free in 2022.
