Zinedine Zidane suggests that Neymar to Real Madrid is still a possibility.
Neymar looks almost certain to leave the Parc des Princes before the transfer window closes. He has been heavily linked with a return to his former club Barcelona. But we could also see him move to his former LaLiga rivals Real Madrid.
The Premier League transfer window is closed, so the Brazilian forward is set to dominate the headlines for weeks to come.
According to some reports, Real Madrid are willing to offer Neymar a net salary of €40million per season and a five-year contract. Real Madrid manager Zidane has also refused to rule out a last-minute move for Neymar.
Zidane told reporters after his side’s 2-2 draw with Roma on Sunday.: “Neymar is not [in our squad] but until 2nd September, anything can happen. We are with the squad that we have and we are only thinking about that.”
Two of Real Madrid players, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez are also expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer. Zidane commented on the current situation: “Bale and Rodriguez are two players in our squad. They are both registered, but anything can happen [until the end of the transfer window] and I, as a coach of Real Madrid, must count on them.
I count on them 100 percent.”
“James Rodriguez is a Real Madrid player under contract. He has not been summoned [to the squad recently], but this can change. Even before the end of the transfer window, everything can happen.”
Although the new season starts next weekend in Spain, the transfer window will remain open until 2nd September. This will give Real Madrid plenty of time to make further changes to their squad.
