Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid last season completing his second spell at the club. In his short time as a head coach, he has proved to be a game-changer as he became the only coach to win three consecutive Champions League titles.
Now, the Frenchman has set his eyes on being the national team coach. However, he will have to wait to get his chance as current France coach Didier Deschamps is set to continue till the 2022 World Cup. Zidane has received many offers from clubs but he is in no mood to rush his decision.
A source close to Zidane told L’Equipe, via Marca: “Football is no longer a question of money for [Zidane], it is about heart.”
“And there will always be four places that he will have a preference for: Bordeaux, Juventus, Real Madrid and the France national team.”
The source continued that Zidane priority is now his family: “When he was Real Madrid coach, and even more during his second spell with [the impact of] COVID-19, Zidane lived almost solely for the club.”
“He would get up every day at 6 am to be at Valdebebas at 7:30 am, and he was there until 7 pm.”
“He had the same lifestyle when he was a player.”
The source confirmed that Zidane’s next plan involves taking charge of the France national team. He said: “He will let time and events follow their course, he doesn’t want to put pressure on anything.”
“All his relatives know that [the role of France coach] will be his next challenge.”
“He doesn’t want to immerse himself again in the life of a club.”
