Newcastle United is putting together a huge list of contenders to replace Steve Bruce as head coach, with Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager, at the top of the list.
Some of the current coaches linked to the Newcastle position include Brendan Rodgers, Antonio Conte, and Steven Gerrard, although the Frenchman is regarded to be one of the new owners’ top contenders.
As per the Mirror, Newcastle’s new owners have chosen Zidane to be the first coach of their grandiose project, but any offer would go straight through his head due to his desire to manage the France national team.
With this latest rebuff, combined with Antonio Conte’s anticipated rejection of Newcastle owing to his larger intentions, it appears that, despite their newfound money, the Magpies are having difficulty attracting great coaches. Newcastle may now have to rely on less experienced local coaches, with Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard being mentioned for the position.
