Real Madrid are just 6 games away from an impossible La Liga and UEFA Champions League double. They are level in points with Barcelona and have a head-to-head advantage so if Atletico loses to Barcelona, Real will be crowned champions if they can win all of their last 4 matches.
Real Madrid are also in a strong position in the Champions League semi-finals as well. They head into the second leg with a 1-1 scoreline. So if they score 2 goals in Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will have to score 4.
Ahead of the second-leg match, Zidane said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, via Marca: “You have to take your hat off to this team. Every time there are difficulties, they respond. They are the best. We are where we want to be and it is deserved.”
“Everyone here is ready. We will give everything in this Champions League semi final, a game that doesn’t come around every day. The line-up changes nothing. We are certain that we will have to suffer. What matters to me is what we do with the ball.”
However, he remained tight-lipped on whether Sergio Ramos would be fit to start the match. He said: “Tomorrow you will see if [Ramos] plays. I am not going to say.”
“If he is here it is because he is well, and that is the most important thing for us, to have our leader and captain. We are not going to risk anything, if he is here it is because he can play.”
Zidane hinted that Hazard could play a decisive role against his former club: “It is a good moment for [Eden] Hazard. I am sure that he will help us. He will bring his quality for us.”
