Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed the permanent signing of defensive midfielder Zambo Anguissa from Fulham. The deal has been finalised for a total fee worth €15 million.

The player initially signed on a loan deal with a buy option, and has now become a permanent member of the Napoli squad, ending his spell with the Cottagers. Fulham fans would have expected more out of their £22.5 million signing, but he has been able to show consistent form in Italy in his first season with them.

Zambo Anguissa completes permanent switch to Napoli

The details of his contract have not been revealed yet, but the signing of Zambo Anguissa will be a boost to Napoli’s ambitions next season. The Azzurri were able to mount a challenge for the Scudetto for a fair share of the season, and will be ambitious to come back stronger next season.

The president of the club also confirmed plans for a pre-season ahead of the 22/23 campaign, as revealed below.

‘There will be some friendly matches, as usual, and we’ll have the chance to welcome more than 1,000 fans in the stands,’ said De Laurentiis.

‘Hopefully, there won’t be limitations, we want to entertain the fans.

‘It will be a retreat dedicated to the psycho-physical reconstruction of the whole football movement since we are coming out of two years not very edifying for everyone.’
