Barcelona have completed the signing of Yusuf Demir from Rapid Wien days, and a statement from Wien confirming that Demir will leave has also been received.
The player joins the B team this summer for a loan deal until 2022 worth €500k. Barcelona B will have the option to sign the player permanently for €10 million next summer.
Demir was born in Wien and featured for the hometown club all this while. He graduated from the Rapid academy and has now moved to Catalonia to move his career forward. Demir plays as an attacking midfielder and prefers his right foot. He is quite versatile, and can also operate on the right or left flanks if required. However, he prefers operating in a central role predominantly.
The 18-year-old debuted for the Austrian national team in March this year, and only has one cap to his name. He mainly features for the Austrian under 21 team, for whom he has earned 5 caps and scored one goal.
In the 20/21 season, Demir made 32 appearances for Rapid Wien across all competitions. He scored 9 goals and assisted 3 in the 1,050 minutes he played throughout the season and also made a few appearances in the Europa League and Champions League as well.
As reported by Barcelona’s official website, the player will complete his medical examinations this weekend and will also start training with the first team afterwards.
