Yann Sommer to join Bayern Munich on a permanent transfer

Manuel Neuer, the Bayern Munich captain, is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg in a skiing accident. As a result, it was necessary for the German side to invest in a suitable replacement.

And after being linked with a switch to Bavaria for years on end, Yann Sommer is finally set to play for Bayern Munich once play resumes following their winter break.

Personal terms for the transfer have been agreed and it seems only a matter of time before the move is made official. Borussia Monchengladbach have already confirmed that Sommer has missed training due to his transfer. And soon, we should be receiving an official confirmation from both clubs about the move.

Recalling Alexander Nubel from Monaco was one of the other options that Bayern were exploring. But, they were unable to do so and have now acquired the target that they wanted for so long.

Sommer has earned a reputation for being excellent between the sticks and has been very important for Gladbach in big games. He has also performed very well for the Swiss national team, and it will be interesting to see how he fares for an elite team like Bayern.
