Yan Couto is all set to join Borussia Dortmund, with a verbal agreement in place with Manchester City for a transfer. The right-back spent this past season with Girona, helping them qualify for the Champions League in what was a miraculous run.
Now, he has returned to City and will be moved on as he isn’t part of Pep Guardiola’s plans. Dortmund will pay a sum worth €25 million for the Brazilian and are hopeful of closing the deal in the coming days.

This past season, Couto scored one goal and provided ten assists in 34 LaLiga games, a remarkable return for a full-back. And at 22, he also fits Dortmund’s ideal profile of a promising young player who the club can develop into a major star.
Yan Couto originally made the move to Europe in 2020, and has spent three years with Girona on loan. Now, he is set to leave the City Football Group and pursue a new challenge in Germany.
The medical for the defender is set to be completed this week, after which he will be officially announced as a new signing. Dortmund are also expected to sign Pascal Groß from Brighton to reinforce their midfield.
