Yamaha has recently registered the name E01 and the EC-05. The latter will be an electric scooter that is already available in Taiwan. Now the company appears to be gearing up to launch a new electric scooter in India very soon.
As per Rushlane‘s report, the Japanese automaker’s first Indian market could be a max-styled scooter. This will be a premium product and it will probably rival the likes of the Ather 450X and the Bajaj Chetak.
The report adds that the scooter will be equipped with a full digital LCD panel console, it will also have Bluetooth connectivity, and users will even be able to access a range of features and functions via Yamaha’s smartphone application.
As of now, information with respect to the upcoming electric scooter is still not yet known. We can expect it to offer performance that matches a 110cc petrol scooter similar to the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter.
In addition to this, the range could be in the ballpark of 70 to 80 KM, with a top speed of 80 and 100 kmph. It is also expected to offer multiple ride modes which determine speed and range. Other features available are an LED headlight, alloys on the front and rear, a trendy rearview mirror, and a comfortable single-piece seat.
With electric vehicles becoming more popular in the auto industry, it comes as no surprise that Yamaha is also looking to get into this sector and launch a new electric scooter. The scooter segment in India is very popular so we can expect Yamaha to offer a lot of attractive ownership options.
One of these options could involve a subscription-based model that will be backed by battery swapping infrastructure.
