Xiaomi working on 150W fast charging tech for next-gen smartphones

Xiaomi launched the Redmi K50 Series in China recently, within this series, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition offers an impressive 120W fast charging support. However, this also could be outpaced as the brand is reportedly working on an even better and faster-charging solution.

The news comes courtesy of the tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. As per the tipster, the company is currently working on pushing the boundaries of fast charging technology. Looking at their social media post, they mention that the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition and Redmi K50 Pro+ offer 120W and 100W fast charging respectively owing to the company’s 6c dual-cell battery design.

With support for 120W fast charging, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition can charge your device from 0 to 100 in just 17 minutes, so with 150W capability, Redmi is likely to offer an even shorter charging time.

The tipster has added that Xiaomi has already prepared the 150W option and it is almost ready for mass production as well. This is likely to be featured in next-gen flagship smartphones like the Xiaomi 12 Ultra or the Xiaomi MIX lineup.

Unfortunately, that is all we know for now as the tipster has not shared any other updates. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated on this topic.
