Xiaomi Mi Band 3 was launched at the company’s Smarter Living event held in Bengaluru on Thursday.
After dominating the smartphone space, Xiaomi wants to build a “smart living” portfolio that is comprised air purifiers, smart security system, fitness bands, and smart TVs. Interestingly enough, Xiaomi has been in some of the categories for quite some time. Smart security camera, however, is a newer category, indicating the company’s to build a smart home ecosystem, alike to Amazon approach for Alexa.
Xiaomi Mi Band 3 specifications:
The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 sports a 0.78-inch capacitive display panel with a 128 X 80 pixel resolution OLED touch screen, much larger than the 0.43-inch panel on the Mi Band 2. Other specifications of the Mi Band 3 include a 110mAh Li-ion polymer battery with a claimed battery life of 20 days, Bluetooth v4.2 LE support. The company uses thermoplastic elastomer for wristband material. For water resistance up to 50 metres, it comes with 5 ATM certification.
Dimensions of the budget fitness tracker are 179 X 469 X 12 mm and it weighs about 20 grams. In terms of functionality, the Mi Band 3 offers step tracking, heart rate sensing, calorie counter, distance counter, and date and time information. Users can also check real-time notifications and perform sleep analysis. Mi Band 3 is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 or above and iOS 9.0 and above.
Mi Band 3 carries a price tag of Rs 1,999 in both Amazon and Mi store. The successor to Xiaomi Mi Band 2, Xiaomi’s new fitness band comes with a slew of upgrades. For instance, it has a larger display, shows content from WhatsApp, Instagram, SMSes and other messaging applications. You can also view and reject calls from the screen. Unlike the HRX edition, Xiaomi Mi Band 3 retains the heart-rate monitor. It is also water resistant up to 50 meters and comes with up to 20 days of battery life.
