Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is here with a 30% faster Adreno GPU

It’s no secret that the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip based on Samsung’s 4nm process looks awful thanks to its insane heating issues, even a good smartphone like Mi 12 Pro struggles due to the thermal throttling issues.

This is the reason why off recently, Qualcomm has got a lot of backlash on the performance of its new flagship chip and how it’s inefficient to even MediaTek. In an article yesterday, we mentioned how Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is nowhere near the Dimensity 9000 and this is a major concern for the US chipmaker.

However, it would be quite difficult for an average consumer whose smartphone’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has TSMC’s 4nm node. Digital Chat Station has also revealed that even SM8450 samples using TSMC’s 4nm process do end up running hot and there’s no reduction in power consumption.

The current Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro, which is already available in other markets, is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is equipped with a 2900mm² super-large VC ultra-luxury heat dissipation, which still cannot cool the chip. So, it will be interesting to see what Xiaomi does to make its upcoming smartphones run efficiently.
