Xiaomi announces 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max at 19,999 yuan (~US$2,832)

Apart from launching its Redmi K30 Pro series, Xiaomi did launch a new TV to be included in the entire Smart TV lineup. It has launched a humongous Smart TV with a display size of 98 inches which can even be longer than your own bed.

This is a 4K display with HDR support and this will be the next Xiaomi Smart TV after its 40-inch and 70-inch smart TV variants. Now you might think about how big is 98-inches? The official description is 13.6% larger than a single bed of 1.2 meters, flat and the size of a table tennis table.

Talking of this 4K display, it covers 85% NTSC colour gamut and supports 192-partition direct-type dynamic backlight along with 140000: 1 dynamic contrast ratio. It features a 9th gen image quality engine that supports MEMC motion compensation that resolves any ghosting issues and more than 20 image quality tuning technologies.

The screen has minimal bezels and it comes with the dark black stainless steel frame of the metal drawing process. The width of the four frames remains the same just 12.8mm, and the screen-to-body ratio is as high as 98.8%.

The 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max is powered by the new Amologic 12nm T972 chip that has been jointly developed by Xiaomi and Amlogic. The chip has four Cortex-A55 cores with up to 1.9GHz clock speed which promises 63% better performance and up to 55% improved power efficiency.

Then there’s Xiaomi’s proprietory PatchWall content engine along with Artificial Intelligence voice and Bluetooth voice remote control. It supports Dolby + DTS, 4 unit large cavity speaker design for delicate treble and punchy bass for the best audiovisual at home.

Coming to the pricing, the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch has been priced at 19,999 yuan which is around US$2,832 but it is lesser, in fact, it’s 1/5 of the average price of similar-sized products on the market. It will be first sold via Xiaomi Mall and Xiaomi Home on April 9 in China, the TV will give a cinematic TV experience and gaming at home at much less price.
