Xiaomi 15 Series Set to Launch with Ultrasonic In-Display Fingerprint Sensor and Enhanced Features

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the launch of its flagship 15 series will take place in China on October 29, following earlier rumors suggesting an October 23 event. It is expected that the Xiaomi 15 series as a whole will include two smartphones; The Xiaomi 15 Pro and a high-end model named ‘Xiaomi 15 Ultra’ or launch this later next year. Last year, too the Xiaomi 14 Pro did not come to India indicating that this time it may be only the vanilla Xiaomi 15 for now.

The Xiaomi 15-series should cost more than the Xiaomi 14 series it will replace with reports suggesting prices could be hiked by ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. The Xiaomi 14 series started at ₹69,999 in India, suggesting the Xiaomi 15 could be priced between ₹75,000 and ₹80,000. For India, Xiaomi could once again follow its schedule of the previous year when this device eventually makes it to the country and we should expect these in or around March next year for sure as the regular model alongside a possible Mystic version known with Ultra name that shall be branded under or above those 15 naming.

The Xiaomi 15 standard version is said to keep a similar compact design as the Xiaomi 14 and 13. Images shared by Xiaomi’s global VP on X have confirmed design similarities to the Xiaomi 14, featuring a square camera module, flat display, thin bezels, and a sleek powder blue color option. It is anticipated to have a 6.36-inch flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, possibly using LTPO technology.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 15 Pro may feature a larger 6.78-inch quad-curved 2K AMOLED display with the same refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a DCI-P3 wide color gamut. Both models are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on TSMC’s 3nm process, delivering substantial performance enhancements. The Xiaomi 15 Pro may offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the standard model will likely start with 12GB of RAM.

For photography enthusiasts, Xiaomi will continue its partnership with Leica. The Xiaomi 15 Pro is expected to feature a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. The standard Xiaomi 15 is rumored to include a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide sensor. Both devices are expected to have a 32MP front camera.

Battery improvements are anticipated, with the Xiaomi 15 featuring a 5,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, while the Pro model might come with a larger 6,000mAh battery. Both phones are expected to carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and will introduce Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15.
