New benchmark results for Intel’s forthcoming 52-core Sapphire Rapids Xeon Platinum 8470 have appeared online, demonstrating the architecture’s remarkable performance. The new Xeon outperformed AMD’s 64 Core Threadripper 3990X in a variety of benchmarks, including Cinebench R15, R20, R23, CPU-Z, and V-Ray, according to Twitter leaker @yuuki and.

Intel’s forthcoming server microarchitecture, Sapphire Rapids, will be the replacement for Intel’s existing Ice Lake Xeon CPUs. It will be Intel’s first server architecture to employ the company’s new 10nm SuperFin technology – or Intel 7, as it’s currently known – which should increase Sapphire Rapids’ performance significantly.

The Xeon Platinum 8470, with 52 cores and 104 threads, is the Sapphire Rapids SKU used in the benchmarks. The CPU looks to have a top turbo frequency of 3.8 GHz, according to CPU-Z.

The Ryzen Threadripper 3990X scored a very good 25,082 points in Cinebench R20 testing. Even though the Xeon has fewer cores, Intel’s Sapphire Rapids chip outperformed the 3990X by 17 percent, scoring 29,344 points.

The scores for the 3990X in Cinebench R23 were from CPU-Monkey. The Threadripper 3990X scored 74,422 points, according to them. The Xeon 8470, on the other hand, comes back with a score of 79,150 points, a 6.3 percent advantage over the 3990X.

However, it appears that the 3990X ultimately takes its first (and only) triumph against the Xeon 8470 in Cinebench R15. According to Guru3D and Overclock3D, the 8470 has a Cinebench R15 score of 10,055 – 10,088 points, which is around 12% higher than the 8470’s score of 8949 points.

When the CPU-Z benchmark results are examined, however, the tide swiftly turns. According to CPU-Z, the 52-core Xeon outperforms the 3990X by 70.7 percent. The Xeon 8470 scored a strong 55,000 points in CPU-Z, but the 3990X only got a score of 32,215.

The final test presented was a V-Ray score, and Hexus results show that the Xeon chip wins once more. The 3990X test results in V-ray came out with a score of 74,449 points, according to Hexus. When compared to the Sapphire Rapids chip, it scores 76,710 points, which is a 3% advantage.
