Paris Saint-Germain are in the final stages of extending Xavi Simons‘ contract. The midfielder’s deal runs out at the end of the month, and the French side is optimistic that they have tied down the player to a long-term renewal.
There was uncertainty surrounding his future over the last year, with there being a spell where PSG would’ve let him go. But it now seems that they have decided to keep him for the long-term. After he signs the new deal, he will be loaned out to PSV Eindhoven for the 22/23 season to gain some first team experience.
Xavi Simons to sign new deal with PSG
The 19-year-old has been the subject of a lot of transfer speculation over the last year. His former academy, Barcelona, have shown interest in bringing him back. But right now, it does not look like they will be moving for him.
As a result, he has agreed to stay at the Parc de Princes for the long-term. The midfielder only made six league appearances this past season, and is currently not ready to break into the first team. Following his loan spell, there is optimism that he will be capable of delivering on a higher level.
Following Xavi Simons’ extension, PSG are expected to push for Milan Skriniar from Inter. There are slim chances of the centre-back leaving the Nerazzurri, but PSG are still pushing to sign him. There are also chances of Neymar leaving the club this summer after falling out with the fans and the board.
