PSG are set to re-sign Xavi Simons by activating the €6 million release clause in his contract. The Dutchman joined PSV Eindhoven last summer after his contract with PSG expired, and had a very prolific season in his home country.

He scored 19 goals and provided nine assists in 34 games, and is now set to sign a contract with the French side once again. But, he will be leaving to sign for RB Leipzig on loan for the 23/24 season with a long-term contract in place at PSG. Leipzig will not have a buy option in the contract, and he will return to Paris at the end of the season.

The youngster has grown into one of the top youngsters in the world right now. During his only season at the club, he won the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield with PSV Eindhoven. He also finished as the top scorer in the Eredivisie, and will now be taking up a new challenge in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Premier league clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal were also interested in signing the player this summer. However, he has decided to return to PSG this summer and will join their project next year after returning from loan.

RB Leipzig will be playing in the Champions League and will also be challenging in the Bundesliga, which will offer the youngster good exposure to high levels of competition.
