Barcelona have confirmed a new contract for their manager Xavi Hernandez, after an impressive run of form since taking charge. The Catalonian side pulled off a remarkable comeback in the first game after the new contract for Xavi, coming back from 2-0 down against Celta Vigo to win 3-2 with less than ten minutes remaining in the match.Â
The new contract for Xavi runs until 2025, but it was always certain that he would stay at the club. The manager helped Barca win the LaLiga title last season, after conceding the least number of goals in Europe’s top five leagues. And they have gotten off to a brilliant start this season as well, dropping only two points so far.

Xavi’s new contract has the option to extend for one more season until 2026, and sees his salary doubled. When he joined, he accepted a salary of €4 million per season with his staff receiving €1.5 million.
Now, their wages have doubled with the head coach receiving €8 million while his staff will receive €4 million per season. On the back of a remarkable run of results, the new deal seems deserved for the former midfielder.
Barcelona are also favourites in Europe this season, after receiving a fairly easy group in comparison to previous years. They won comfortably against Belgian side Royal Antwerp, and will be taking on Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto to try and qualify for the Round of 16.
