Barcelona are set to have a meeting on Wednesday, 24 April 2024, to discuss Xavi Hernandez’s future, with club president Joan Laporta, Rafa Yuste and sporting director Deco set to discuss the situation with the manager.
Xavi made a shocking announcement a few months ago, revealing he has decided to leave the club at the end of the season over poor results. He led the club to the quarter finals of the Champions League, but is set to finish the season trophyless after their 3-2 loss in the second LaLiga El Clasico.

Injuries have played a significant role in detailing Barcelona’s season, but the same can be said for several other top clubs, including Real Madrid. However, the lack of a spending budget can also not be criticised considering Inigo Martinez, Joao Felix, Joao Cancelo, Oriol Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan all joined the club this past summer.
Xavi Hernandez reportedly wants more players to be signed, and for guarantees that key players will not leave if he is to stay. It will be interesting to see if the club can make him change his mind, as results have improved since he announced his departure.
However, he has maintained publicly that he doesn’t intend to change his decision and remain as the manager. Barcelona reportedly lack the funds and the options necessary to replace Xavi, which is why they see him as the best candidate for the role. And for them, keeping him has become more important than ever.
