Ever scrolled past a photo so strange you had to stop? That’s exactly what happened when odd images of Wolverine and Beast started racing around social media, with a bold claim attached. The internet took the bait, then the internet fact-checked itself.

### X-Men Rumor vs. Reality

| Question | Answer |
| --- | --- |
| **The claim** | The images supposedly showed what the original Fox X-Men cast almost looked like |
| **Where it spread** | A carousel post by @GothicHeros on X |
| **The verdict** | Debunked, the pictures come from a 2003 picture book |
| **The real source** | A picture book adapting the first couple of *Ultimate X-Men* issues |

### How the Myth Fell Apart?

The post showed several stars in costume as the mutant team, and fans naturally asked where the photos came from. Another X user, @kittischmitti, answered by sharing the picture book itself, plus a similar *Ultimate Spider-Man* book as extra proof. Mystery solved. The lesson is simple: if a “leaked” image looks like a comic-book photo shoot from another era, reverse-search it before you share it. Marvel rumors move fast, and plenty of them are recycled.

### The Real X-Men News: Doomsday

Here’s the fun part. The real mutant news is arguably better than the fake one. *Avengers: Doomsday* opens December 18, 2026, and Marvel has confirmed original actors returning, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming and Channing Tatum. If you want the franchise backstory, the [X-Men film series](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_(film_series)) on Wikipedia is a good primer.
