The Group C winners Sweden Women and the Group D runners-up Belgium Women met in the third quarter-final of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 last Friday (22nd July) night at Leigh Sports Village (Leigh). Sweden Women vs Belgium Women: Goalkeeper Nicky Evrard was always strong enough

Sweden completely dominated in that game, while Belgium hardly had any answer except to stop their opponents from opening the scoreline again and again.

Striker Stina Blackstenius successfully netted the ball in the 25th minute, but she was just found in an offside position as that goal was not counted.

However, the Swedish team continued their solid attacks, but the Belgian goalie Nicky Evrard had a never-give-up attitude under the post. The Blagult tried hard, but Evrard incredibly saved seven times during the entire 90 minutes game.

When the football fans were getting ready for an extra-time encounter, a corner ultimately worked for the Swedish team to break the deadlock. Though Nathalie Bjorn’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper Evrard, Sembrant managed to hit the net with a rebound opportunity.

The Swedish team had eight shots on target, while the Belgian side had zero shots on target. Talking about the shots off target in that game, Sweden had 18 times, and Belgium recorded only thrice.
