Just days after pulling off one of the [Premier](https://www.wolves.co.uk/)League’s biggest shocks of the season, Wolves get to do it all over again. Liverpool are back at Molineux — this time in the **FA Cup fifth round** — and Arne Slot’s side will be absolutely *seething* to make amends. But can Rob Edwards’ men stun the Reds twice in four days? Football doesn’t get more dramatic than this.

Wolves have won their last two FA Cup games — past Shrewsbury (6-1) and Grimsby (1-0). Liverpool demolished Barnsley 4-1 in the third round before cruising past Brighton 3-0 in round four.

## Match Preview

Let’s set the scene. Wolves dealt Liverpool a shock 2-1 defeat in the Premier League earlier this week, capped by a dramatic 94th-minute winner from Andre — their first back-to-back wins in nearly a year. The atmosphere at Molineux will be electric.

But reality check: Wolves are still rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, trailing 17th-placed Nottingham Forest by 11 points with just eight games to play. The FA Cup isn’t just a feel-good story — it’s their *lifeline* for the season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are hurting. The Reds find themselves fifth in the Premier League, facing a fight to qualify for next season’s Champions League — a staggering situation given their title triumph just one year ago. Slot needs a response, and he needs it fast.

The Reds hold a commanding all-time record at Molineux, but form and fury make this anything but a formality. Liverpool have won all six of their prior meetings against Wolves, excluding Monday’s Premier League result — expect them to lean heavily on that pedigree.

## Team News

**Wolves — OUT:** None! Edwards has a fully fit squad available for selection. Sam Johnstone expected to start in goal (FA Cup role), with the same XI that beat Liverpool likely retained.

**Liverpool — OUT:** Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, Florian Wirtz, Stefan Bajcetic, Wataru Endo, and Alexander Isak are all sidelined. Slot is expected to rotate heavily.

## Predicted Lineups

**Wolves (3-4-3):** Johnstone; Doherty, Bueno, Krejci; Tchatchoua, Mane, Andre, J. Gomes, Wolfe; A. Gomes, Armstrong

**Liverpool (4-3-3):** Alisson; Jones, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Ngumoha; Ekitike

## Head-to-Head Snapshot

| Stat | Record |
| --- | --- |
| Overall H2H (all-time) | Liverpool lead heavily |
| Last 6 meetings (excl. Mon) | Liverpool won all 6 |
| Last meeting (PL, Mon) | **Wolves 2–1 Liverpool** ⚡ |
| FA Cup meetings | Liverpool dominant |

## Prediction

Wolves have the home crowd, the momentum, and a point to prove. But Liverpool’s squad depth — even weakened — is simply on another level, and Slot will set up *specifically* to stop Andre and the late-game heroics. Expect a response from the Reds.

**Our Prediction: Wolves 1–3 Liverpool**
