The 27th edition of the Badminton World Championship held in Tokyo, Japan came to an end in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles this Sunday, 28 August 2022 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.
The men’s singles witnessed Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Viktor Axelsen after beating Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn regained the title that he won for the first time in 2017. the favourite home player Yamaguchi Akane retained the world title in the decider game against Olympic champion Chen Yufei.
At the world championships, Chen Qingchen & Jia Yifan bagged their third gold medal after beating South Korean opponents Kim Soyeang and Kong Heeyong in the straight sets 22-20, 21-14.
Watnabe Yuta and Hignashino Arisa had a strong start in the beginning but Zheng and Huang dominated the match to win 21-13, 21-16 in 41 minutes and got their world championship in mixed doubles category.
Aaron Chia and Soh Wooh Yik of Malaysia won the men’s doubles by defeating Indonesia’s Mohammad Ahsan & Hendra Setiawan in straight sets by of 21-19, 21-14.
