Windows 11 might contain improvements to increase performance with the Alder Lake series

Many leaks are appearing online with regards to Windows 11. However, according to recent rumors, it’s reported that Windows 11 might have a lot in common with Windows 10. The developer preview ISO that leaked is a few months old and appears to be missing widgets, apps, or functionality that was expected to arrive with the new system. Windows 11 also supports WDDM 3.0, which was first introduced Win10 Insider Preview “Cobalt”.

The WDDM upgrade and Microsoft Store updates were expected with the newer OS, however, many tech experts were waiting for Microsoft to introduce changes and improvements for heterogenous CPU architectures, such as the upcoming 12th Gen Core Alder Lake series from Intel.

And according to the leaked images and reports regarding the new OS, the operating system provides a small improvement to so far the only hybrid-based Intel CPU series: Lakefield. Intel will soon be going for mass production and increasing the supply of its next-gen Alder Lake lineup when it gets a release, however, we expect Microsoft to add necessary functionalities to its OS.

However, coming back to the rumors which were indicated by HotHardware testing, Lakefield Core i7-L16G7 CPU appears to have higher performance in early Windows 11 build. The site claims a 5.8% boost in multi-threaded Geekbench 5 score and a 2% higher single-thread.

Cinebench R23’s modern synthetic benchmark showed that it has a nearly 8.2% of performance uplift which is considered a big improvement in single-core threaded tests. While testing on the PC Mark 10, which is considered to be closer to real-world testing, Windows 10 was better in the Digital Content Creation test.

Seeing how Lakefield had such performance improvement we can expect to see similar gains with Alder Lake as well. Alder Lake will also feature Intel’s Hybrid Technology based on high-performance and high-efficiency cores.
