Former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian could be leaving Corinthians at the end of the ongoing season. The player has a deal with the Brazilian club until December 2023, and could undertake a new challenge soon.

The player and his family were recently threatened on social media. And as a result, there are considerations that the player could leave the club out of safety concerns. This was due to their recent defeat to Bolivian side Always Ready in the CONMEBOL Libertadores earlier this month.

While there were concerns for safety for the player and his family, Willian’s father has clarified the situation as follows:

“There was that threat, but it’s gone. We saw that it was nothing like that. Willian is focused on Corinthians and the team is fitting in now. There is none of that”

With Chelsea, the Brazilian won two Premier League titles and the Europa League before leaving as a free agent. His desire was to continue in England, and as a result, he moved across London to Arsenal. Following two disappointing seasons on the other side of the English capital, Willian returned to Brazil.

He has been with Corinthians ever since leaving the club, and has been a regular in the team. While he is currently focused on the task at hand, his future could lie elsewhere. But if the threats indeed disappear, he could see out his contract with the Brazilian side.
