Everyone of us need some privacy in our respective domains. It’s applicable for both personal and professional life. So, let us expand a little further guys. How about if we start talking about privacy in our digital life as well? Many a times we need to look/work something on Internet which should be preferably “private”. This gets into highlight more when you are using a shared device. You won’t want the next person to come across your browsed sites. Here comes the scene of “Incognito Mode”. What is the classical idea we picture?

While we are surfing in the incognito mode of a browser we feel it quite safe as we are sure about the fact that our browsing history won’t keep our records. We also tend to work in the situation where our gmail accounts are logged in and we feel to leave it as it is.  Even sometimes we leave our banking sessions active too.  That of course will keep your local browsing history clear off your activity but still we have a lot to go ahead.

True, Incognito mode keeps your browsing history clean but wait, there are ways by which your data is monitored or is traced. For example, your ISP or Internet Service Provider keeps track of your every web activity. So, even if you are apparently safe from local data storages, you are always under surveillance. Lets get a little more practical, even in Incognito mode,  it can be noticed that certain forms are auto filled. Well how is that possible? Yes, you are correct data is do stored even in incognito mode.  These data s are stored in the local storage of browser. One can see a few things with the inspect element to certain extent. Next comes your Google account. If you are signed in and your record web activity is turned on , then you should know that your web history is also in Google servers. The next time if the  Google account  is kept signed  in while browsing,  it will be noticed that some suggestions of viewed sites in purple which were committed in or outside Incognito Mode is popping. The most important thing we are missing is the IP. Yes, your IP address is still visible and any external agent can track your entire activity within a matter of seconds. Incognito mode does not make your INTERNET presence a secret.

Well one can raise the question that what is the right solution for our browsing privacy, the answer is hard and firm. There is no complete seal to your privacy at any point. But, we can go a bit more secure. The solution is using a VPN service or using TOR (though tor has got some serious flaws). However, you will be one step closer in successfully keeping your privacy “private”.
