In spite of the drama surrounding the Frenchman’s transfer status this summer, Mbappe remains well-paid with a salary of $110 million. He has reportedly agreed to forego the loyalty bonuses he was set to receive from PSG this summer, which could lead to a pre-agreed exit next year. But, only time will tell what Mbappe’s future holds after so many close calls.

3. Neymar – $112 million

Al Hilal made a massive signing this summer when they recruited Neymar from PSG for around €80 million. The Brazilian star earns a huge amount worth $112 million, making him the third highest paid footballer in the world, behind two familiar names.

2. Lionel Messi – $135 million

When you’re the greatest player to have ever kicked a ball, money follows you wherever you go. With sponsorships, part-ownership of Inter Miami in the future and a hefty contract, Lionel Messi is still one of the highest paid football players in the world with earnings of $135 million per year.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo – $260 million

The pioneer of the massive exodus of players to Saudi Arabia this summer, Cristiano Ronaldo is still the highest paid player in world football. The forward signed a contract with Al Nassr in January, and has been in fine form for them, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in the league this year.
