Santiago Gimenez is one of the names repeatedly linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe over the last few weeks. The Feyenoord striker has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists in 12 games across all competitions, including the Champions League.Â
The Mexican striker has been linked with Barcelona, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal, all of whom are keen on the move. But, there is no concrete update about movement behind the scenes to get the deal over the line just yet.
Santiago Gimenez: The next rising star from the EredivisieÂ
At only 22 years of age, Gimenez is the latest player from the Eredivisie to catch the attention of the bigger clubs in the continent. Barcelona might be reluctant to go for him considering Vitor Roque will link up with the first team in the January transfer window.Â
Moreover, Chelsea might also look elsewhere as they have their eyes set on a more established goalscorer, with Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja already in their squad.
Italian clubs Juventus, Napoli, Inter and AC Milan are all keen on signing him with Real Madrid also keeping an eye on the situation. But, Feyenoord have not been approached by any team yet.
Santiago Gimenez joined Feynoord from Cruz Azul only last year and won the Eredivisie title with them in his first season. With a contract running until 2027, the Dutch champions are under no pressure to sell, especially since they can offer him Champions League football. Any transfer would likely have to wait until the summer transfer window, if it at all materialises this early in the season.Â
