Real Madrid are very keen on yet another academy product – Jaime Barroso. The youngster, born in 2007, is showing great potential. He has scored 24 goals in 16 games for the youth team, and is expected to develop much further in the coming years.
Four of those goals came in three games for Selección Madrilena, while one was scored in two games with Juvenil. The teenager also scored on his debut with the Spain U16 team, and has made two appearances for them so far.
Jaime Barroso: Real Madrid’s next academy star?
Being 15 years old, Jaime Barroso is still too young to make the transition into the first team. But he is showing the right signs to have a good career down the line.
It will not be easy to break into the first team, however. Right now, Karim Benzema is the first-choice number 9 at the club. But he only has a few years left before he ultimately has to move on. With Alvaro Rodriguez’s recent form, he is expected to provide a new profile as a centre-forward now that he is being promoted to the senior team.
And soon enough, Endrick will also be at the club to challenge for the striker’s role. As a result, there is a good chance that his future could lie away from the Santiago Bernabeu, like so many academy graduates in the past. But, it is still too early to decide how Barroso’s career will play out.
For now, he must work his way up to Castilla before having a crack at the senior team.
