“The Boys” Saga Concludes: Season 5 Announced as Final Season
Ahead of the premiere of “The Boys” Season 4, showrunner Eric Kripke has announced that the R-rated Amazon Prime Video superhero series will conclude with its fifth season.
“#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!” Kripke said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday, which was accompanied with a screenshot of a redacted copy of the script for the Season 4 finale. “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
Premiering in 2019, “The Boys” is set in a world dominated by the superhero conglomerate Vought. It chronicles the conflict between the superheroes, known as “supes,” and the eponymous “Boys” – a band of individuals whose lives have been shattered by the actions of the supes.

The series features a stellar cast including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Joining the ensemble for Season 4 is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, marking the second significant addition from the “Supernatural” franchise after Jensen Ackles’ portrayal of Soldier Boy in Season 3.
“The Boys” boasts an executive production team comprising Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin, and Jason Netter, alongside “The Boys” comic creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
This Emmy-winning drama is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
Speculation had already surfaced regarding the potential conclusion of “The Boys” as Amazon renewed the series for Season 5 shortly before Kripke and the cast commenced press for Season 4, which premieres with three episodes on Thursday.
Kripke had previously expressed his desire for a minimum of five seasons to fully unfold the narrative. However, the announcement of the fifth season renewal on May 14 did not specify it as the conclusive season, sparking speculation.
“The Boys” has sparked numerous spinoff endeavors at Amazon. These include the animated anthology “The Boys Presents: Diabolical” and the live-action superhero college series “Gen V,” currently filming its second season. Additionally, two other projects are currently in development—one set in Mexico and another recently unveiled by Kripke.
