While the world watches **Lionel Messi** chase World Cup glory, Sony Pictures just pulled off one of the year’s strangest crossovers — dropping him straight into a teaser for **“Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”**

## What Happens in the Teaser

The clip runs just a few seconds but packs a punch. It opens with Peter Parker (**Tom Holland**) chatting on the phone at a café when he spots Messi nearby. Starstruck, he quickly suits up as Spider-Man to introduce himself. True to his famously calm demeanor, Messi barely reacts beyond asking what’s going on — right before getting swept up into a web-swinging ride across the city skyline alongside the superhero.

## Football Meets Marvel

This isn’t a random pairing. The teaser is part of Sony’s global promotional push for the film, timed perfectly with 2026 FIFA World Cup fever. The movie picks up after the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” following Peter Parker as he navigates life completely on his own, facing a fresh set of challenges under Cretton’s direction.

Messi, currently one of the most recognized athletes on the planet and an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, remains a global cultural icon well beyond the football pitch — making him a natural fit for a promotional stunt built to reach both movie fans and sports fans at once.
