[WhatsApp](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WhatsApp) is back at it with a fresh batch of updates that aim to make your calling experience smoother, more private, and a whole lot more expressive. According to **WABetaInfo**, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (v2.25.10.16) includes **three exciting features** currently being tested among a select group of users.

Let’s break down what’s coming and how it might change the way you make audio and video calls on WhatsApp.

## ***WhatsApp Introduces Smart Call Features in Beta: What’s New for Android Users***

### **Mute Incoming Calls Right from the Notification Panel**

Ever received a call and wished you could answer it without the other person immediately hearing what’s going on in your background? That’s where the **new mute button** comes in.

This handy option now appears in the **notification panel** during an incoming call, allowing you to **mute your microphone** before picking up. It’s a small but thoughtful update that could be especially useful in noisy environments or when you need a second before speaking.

### **Turn Off Camera Before Answering Video Calls**

Next up is a feature that many privacy-conscious users will appreciate. WhatsApp is now letting users **disable the camera before accepting a video call**.

Why is this a big deal?

- You get a moment to **prepare yourself** before going live on camera.
- It adds a **layer of privacy**, especially when receiving video calls from unknown numbers.
- You won’t appear on the screen the second you hit “accept.”

This subtle tweak can drastically improve comfort and control during video calls—perfect for those who need to take a beat before facing the camera.

### **Emoji Reactions in Real-Time During Video Calls**

Let’s add some fun into the mix. WhatsApp is also testing a **real-time emoji reaction feature** during video calls. Just like on Instagram Live or Zoom reactions, this lets you send quick emojis while chatting face-to-face.

Imagine being able to send a quick 👍, 😂, or ❤️ mid-conversation without interrupting the flow—just a tap, and your expression is instantly shared with everyone in the call.

This new tool adds a layer of **non-verbal communication** that makes group video calls more interactive and engaging.

### **When Can You Try These Features?**

As of now, these features are only available to a **limited group of beta testers** on Android. However, WhatsApp plans to **roll them out more widely in the coming weeks**, so keep your app updated if you want to be among the first to try them.

### Privacy, Control & Expressiveness

These new features reflect WhatsApp’s continued push toward improving the **user experience during calls**—whether it’s about giving you **more privacy**, **better control**, or **fun ways to interact** during video calls.

If you’ve been waiting for more flexible calling tools on WhatsApp, it looks like the wait won’t be much longer.
