INDIA'S FLORAL START-UP GOT THE INVESTMENT FROM SHARK RANK (SEASON 2)

In the second season of Shark Tank, the most successful business idea that has stood out is Hoovu Fresh- A floral startup just supply traditional festival flowers

The Hoovu Fresh sister duo of  Yashoda and Rhea Karuturi have courted the interest from al the sharks has ultimately dealt with worth Rs. 1 Crore from Sharks Peyush Bansal, and Aman Gupta.

Hoovu Fresh- Start-Up

This is a Bengaluru based startup by Rose Bazaar with subscription based flower delivery model in 2019. Within three tears, Hoovu Fresh has  spread to eight cities and  successfully delivered more than 300  temples and 500 farmers. The things  is custommer can but it from several delivery platforms containing BihBusket, Swiggy, and Zepto, and others.

For the entrepreneur sisters,  this is not new as they started Hoovu (Kannada word for flower) in 2019, their love for the floral industry is not new. After  joining, the two just grew up in floriculture farms, "knowing about harvest cycles, auction prices and freight rates."

In 1994, while Yeshosa Karuturi was born, their father began Karuturi Global with a  rose farm. Now, it is one of the world's biggest producers of cut roses, spread across Ethiopia, Kenya, and India. The two sisters witnessed the changing landscape of he flower industry in India.

The two sisters claims in the website, "We saw how the industry changed dramatically-from unorganised, fragmented markets to the setting up of the International Flower Auction Bangalore, the first exports of cut roses from Bangalore and the awe-inspiring Kenyan farm, which was the world's largest rose farm."

The entrepreneur sisters use their knowledge of agriculture and collaborate to reduce the turnaround time from harvest to reaching  the customers.

Yeshoda has completed Master's on Accounting and a bachelor's in Business Administration from Washington University in St Louis. Rhea is the CTO at Hoovu fresh graduated from Stanford University along with a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, and Society. On priorising Hoovu fresh along with her sister worked with several publications like TOI, Decan Herald.

Hoovu- USP

Hoovu claims they have reduced the turnaround to 12-24 hours from 36-48 hours. The startup use innovative packaging to boost the shelf life of the flowers to 15 days from the normal 2 days. Apart from flower they offer agarbathis, dhoop sticks, Rose, Jasmine, Lavender, Sandalwood, and Tulsi. They have collaborated with the ISKCON temple in Bangalore for flower decoration

After, a year of inception, sisters pitched Hoovu Fresh at the Techstars Bangalore Cohort in 2020. Hoovu Fresh already has 25 employees  and doing 15,000 deliveries  per month, won national FICCI award. In December 2022, the start-up raised pre-Series A funding of Rs.6.45 crore  but early-stage venture capital firm Sauce.VC
