WD launches storage solutions for Data Hungry AI devices

Western Digital is a common name among workstation people. Offering a wide range of storage solutions, the company has made a name for itself by providing smart video workloads.

Its purple storage solutions have been a favorite amongst various storage solutions. Now the company has announced new members of its Purple storage solutions.

The new solutions include a surveillance HDD with 18TB capacity for DVR’s, NVR’s, and Analytics Appliances. Also, a 1TB WD Purple SC QD101 microSD card for AI-enabled cameras.

The WD Purple drives are optimized to help reduce frame loss and pixelation. They also improve overall video playback and enhance streaming for 24×7 workloads.

WD Purple 18TB HDD

The most massive capacity HDD available in the industry for surveillance drives, the WD Purple 18TB HDD, is explicitly designed for NVRs and Video analytics appliances. All GPU-enabled devices that can deliver real-time and post analytics applications will also benefit from the new HDD.

The HDD supports an effective AI execution while providing more room for storing video, reference images, and metadata. It features AllFrame AI technology that enables recording of up to 64 high-definition cameras. It also has an additional 32 streams for deep learning analytics.

WD Purple SC QD101 1TB microSD Card

The WD Purple 1TB microSD card is designed specifically for AI-enabled cameras and surveillance cameras. They are targeted towards devices serving as primary or back-up data storage. It comes with the companies advanced 96-layer 3D NAND technology. They are delivering a combination of ultra-high endurance with up to 500 P/E cycles, the device in 1TB, 512GB, 256GB, 128GB, 64GB, and 32GB capacities.

Deep learning algorithms which are hungry for data generated by IoT and edge ecosystems, demands a higher resolution for better accuracy. Obviously, this increases the need for storage capacity in cameras and NVRs.

The new Purple HDD and microSD from WD will provide enough storage capacity to successfully deliver efficient use cases in IoT.
