Waymo’s autonomous fleet just hit a major roadblock. A California school district’s attempt to train AI to recognize school bus stop signals ended in total failure. Despite receiving real-world data, the vehicles ignored protocols, proving that integrating localized safety rules into complex neural networks remains a massive technical hurdle. Can Waymo bridge this dangerous gap before the next rollout?
