In one of the most gut-wrenching episodes of the season, Dr. Watson is hallucinating Sherlock Holmes, a mother’s delusions mirror his own unravelling mind — and a deer on the road may have changed everything.

*Watson* on CBS has been quietly delivering one of TV’s most underrated medical mysteries, and Episode 16 just raised the emotional stakes in the most alarming way possible.

## Watson S2 Episode 16: “Respect the Process. Respect the Quirks” — What Happened?

In Episode 16, Watson investigates a case involving a mentally unstable mother, Shelly, whose delusions serve as a mirror to his own newly discovered hallucinations — a chilling parallel that the episode uses brilliantly.

Shelly brought her daughter Cora to the clinic claiming she had cancer, but tests revealed no cancer — just a fever and pain. Shelly had been keeping her children hidden from the world, homeschooled and isolated, never going outside. Watson discovered a secret room in their house hiding Cora’s sister Abby. Even Shelly burned in sunlight — the mystery pointed toward something environmental rather than genetic. The culprit? Too much celery — which was poisoning all three of them and causing photosensitivity. With proper care, the family could recover, and Watson arranged for Shelly’s ex-sister-in-law Elena to watch the girls while Shelly undergoes treatment. ## The Shocking Ending

On the drive back from picking up the children’s stuffed toys, Watson heard Holmes again — and it startled him so badly that he missed a deer in the road. The car flipped and crashed into a ravine. And that’s where Episode 16 left viewers. [Celeb Dirty Laundry](https://www.celebdirtylaundry.com/2026/watson-recap-04-05-26-season-2-episode-16-respect-the-process-respect-the-quirks/)

It’s a cliffhanger that hits harder knowing this: CBS cancelled *Watson* after two seasons on March 27, 2026. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watson_(TV_series))
