## What’s It About? A Village Where Rumour Is Law

Set in the eerily fictional village of **Pattada** — a place so steeped in death it’s practically the village mascot — *Pennum Porattum* is an absurdist social satire that follows three central characters: **Gopalan Master**, **Charulatha**, and **Suttu**. Each faces the village’s brutal, mob-minded judgment in their own way.

Suttu eventually finds a way out, choosing freedom. Charulatha, however, remains — trapped within Pattada’s suffocating cycle of violence and injustice. It’s the kind of story that uses humour and surrealism to say things that a straightforward drama simply couldn’t. Think dark, think layered, think uncomfortable in the best possible way.

What makes this debut even more special is the voice of **Tovino Thomas** lending his distinctive presence to the film’s narration — the kind of detail that immediately elevates a project.

## Rajesh Madhavan Steps Behind the Camera

Best known for his acting work, **Rajesh Madhavan** makes a confident leap into directing with this film, also starring in it. It’s a bold double role — both in front of and behind the lens — and the [Malayalam cinema](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayalam_cinema) community has been watching closely.

The film arrives on **Netflix on March 13, 2026**, in Malayalam along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada — giving it a broad national reach that most Malayalam films can only dream of.
