The centre-back’s impressive performances not only helped Stuttgart return to the Champions League by finishing second in the Bundesliga, but also earned him a call-up to the national team for the Euros.
With Mats Hummels leaving the club as a free agent, Dortmund needed a reliable defender to replace the veteran. And they have gone ahead and recruited one of the best in the league in Anton.
With a pass accuracy of 89%, 1.2 interceptions and tackles per game, as well as 6.2 ball recoveries per game, the numbers all prove how well-rounded Waldemar Anton is in terms of being a modern, ball-playing central defender.
And his arrival will surely help reinforce the squad for the coming season, with Nuri Sahin set to lead the team into a brand new era.
