Fusion 13, the newest significant update to the Fusion virtualization programme, was released by VMware. Fusion is a programme created to enable Mac users to run non-macOS operating systems like Windows 11 in virtual machines.
Both Fusion 13 Pro and Fusion 13 Player are natively supported on both Intel Macs and Apple silicon Macs with M-series processors. Before releasing the newest version of Fusion, VMware has been evaluating Apple silicon compatibility for a number of months.
Users of Intel and Apple chipset Macs can access Windows 11 virtual machines with Fusion 13. Intel Macs offer complete Windows 11 support, while VMware claims a first round of Windows 11 on Arm features on Apple silicon.
Fusion 13 also contains a TPM 2.0 virtual device that can be deployed to any VM and stores data in an encrypted part of the virtual machine files while providing hardware-tpm capability parity. Fusion 13 employs a fast encryption type to provide this capability, encrypting only the bits of the VM required to support the TPM device for performance and security.
Fusion 13 Player is free for personal use, while commercial licences for both versions are 30% off to commemorate the introduction. VMware Fusion 13 Player costs $104.30, while VMware Fusion Pro costs $139.30. Upgrades from previous versions are also available at a reduced price.
