Vivo is gearing up to launch the successor to its foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 2, in China. Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station, active on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, has hinted that the upcoming Vivo X Fold 3 may surpass its competitors, such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 and OnePlus Open, in terms of being thinner and lighter. There are speculations suggesting that Vivo might introduce two models in the Vivo X Fold 3 series— a standard Vivo X Fold 3 and a Pro variant. The anticipated release of these foldable smartphones is expected in China by the end of Q1 or early Q2 in 2024.
The Rumored Vivo X Fold 3
According to Digital Chat Station’s Weibo disclosure, the Vivo X Fold 3 is projected to have a thickness of 5mm when unfolded and 10.5mm when folded, making it approximately 3mm slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. The device is estimated to weigh between 220 and 229 grams, positioning it as lighter than the Honor Magic V2, despite being thicker.
The Vivo X Fold 3 is designed with a book-style foldable form factor, catering to users who appreciate this particular configuration. Additionally, it’s suggested that the vanilla variant may be equipped with the previous-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This chipset, observed in 2023 flagship models, features a Cortex X3 core clocked at 3.2GHz, two Cortex A715 cores at 2.8GHz, and three Cortex A510 cores at 2.0GHz, accompanied by an Adreno 740 GPU. The hardware configuration is anticipated to include up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, running on Origin OS 14 based on Android 14.
