If you’ve been keeping your anticipation in check waiting for a more affordable version of the Vision Pro headset, it appears your wait will be a bit longer than some had hoped for. Respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also suggested that Apple is working on a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset, as has been rumored. Kuo’s newest update, however, indicates this more affordable Vision could be pushed out to 2027. Kuo wrote on X: “As I understand it, production of the cheaper Vision Pro has been delayed beyond 2027 for a while now.”

Affordable Vision Pro Headset Delayed Until 2027, Says Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo

The analyst further added that Apple can release another Vision Pro headset in 2024 but it won’t be the lower-cost model that the market expects. Instead, the 2025 update will feature an upgraded M5 chip in the Vision Pro series. “This means Apple’s only new head-mounted display device in 2025 will be the Vision Pro with an upgraded M5 processor,” he states.

Kuo suggests that the delay might be due to Apple’s hesitation about whether lowering the price alone would attract buyers. He compares this situation to the HomePod, which saw limited success even with the addition of a cheaper HomePod mini. “Apple may have realized that just reducing the price wouldn’t be enough to create compelling use cases for consumers, similar to the HomePod mini situation,” Kuo explains. That would suggest that the so-called low-cost Vision Pro could come with new tech that differentiates it from the regular model, outside of simply being a lower price.

For approximately a year, speculations about a cheaper Vision Pro have been afloat. The VisionOS introduced with Apple Vision Pro was an exciting announcement for allowing the user to interact directly with digital content in your physical world using eye, hand, and voice controls. Although it was not launched in India, it created buzz in the US at a price of $3,499 (around ₹2.89 lakh). This means the less-expensive model could cost about $1,000 less, according to reports.
