As we head into a new decade, ICC have taken a look at the past decade and honoured those who had been in terrific form in the last decade.

ICC has declared the Team of the Decades of all the three formats for each Men and Women’s category on Sunday, 27th December.

Now they have honoured the best players in every format.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been at the top of his form for many years now. His One Day International records are phenomenal. He has been awarded with the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Decade award.

Virat Kohli told after winning the award: “My only intention was to make winning contributions for the team and I just strive to do that in every game. Stats just become the byproduct of what you want to do on the field.”

These are some of Kohli’s achievements in ODI over the last decade:

  • Only player with 10,000-plus ODI runs in the ICC awards period
  • 39 centuries
  • 48 fifties
  • 61.83 average
  • 112 catches

These records clearly shows that Virat deservedly won the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Decade award.
