Indian captain Virat Kohli is going to end the year 2020 as he continues to retain the No. 1 ODI batsman spot in the latest ICC rankings.

Though for the first time since 2008, Kohli finished the calendar year without an ODI century but has retained his top spot with 870 points, with 431 runs in nine games at an average of 47.88 and also with a strike-rate of 92.29 adding to it five half-centuries.

Skipper Kohli has also smashed two half-centuries during the ODI series against Australia in the ongoing tour, where he also broke legend, Sachin Tendulkar’s record by becoming the fastest to score 12000 ODI runs by finishing the feat in a mere 242 innings as compared to Sachin Tendulkar, who had achieved the same in 300 innings.

Not only Skipper Kohli but also Rohit Sharma have maintained his dominance in the latest ICC ODI rankings retaining No.2 spot in the rankings for batsmen.

Hardik Pandya who was totally phenomenal in the white-ball series against Australia also made his first appearance in the top 50 batsmen at 49th place with his career-best of 553 points. Unfortunately, Hardik Pandya missed out closely from becoming the third batsman to score a century in the match during the first ODI of India’s tour of Australia in Sydney.

Steve Smith’s record of 62-ball centuries in the first two matches during the ongoing series against India enabled him to move back into the ODI top 20 batsmen for the first time since 2018 with 707 points at the fifteenth position.

Adam Zampa has also made a big impact with balling where mostly batsmen dominated making his entry in the top 20 ODI bowlers for the very first time with Zampa’s seven wickets at 23 which took him to the fourteenth position with a career-best 623 points. Also, Josh Hazlewood took six wickets and moved up a place to the sixth rank.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Ross Taylor and Australia captain Aaron Finch are the 3rd, 4th and 5th ranked batters, respectively.
