Despite going behind in the second half, Real Madrid managed to score twice in quick succession to win the game and return to the top of the La Liga table, defeating Valencia 2-1 at the Mestalla.
The duo of Benzema and Vincius Jr were involved in both goals, with the Brazilian scoring the first goal for Madrid in the 86th minute. Benzema scored two minutes later, assisted by Vinicius, and won the game for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Benzema currently leads the scoring charts in La Liga, with six goals from five games. He also has five assists to his name, which put him at the top of the assists leaderboard as well. Overall, the Frenchman has 11 goal contributions to his name, the highest in the league right now.
Vinicius Jr is surely in his breakout season at Real Madrid now. He has scored 5 goals in just as many games for Madrid in La Liga this season. His previous best scoring season in Spain saw him score 4 goals. His finishing and decision making in the final third has improved massively under Carlo Ancelotti, and we are seeing the best of the 21-year-old yet.
The partnership between Benzema and Vincius has evolved over the years as well. The two have scored 11 goals between themselves, and have built a solid rapport while attacking. This partnership could be the defining factor of Ancelotti’s second spell at Real Madrid, and could help them win the La Liga title if they keep it up consistently.
