## What Vijay Sethupathi Actually Said

Speaking at a fan meet hosted by Behindwoods, Vijay Sethupathi was asked point-blank whether he had stepped away from *Arasan*. His response was calm, direct, and tinged with a familiar exhaustion at the rumour culture surrounding South Indian cinema — he categorically denied any exit, saying there was nothing to the reports and that he has no idea how such stories originate or spread. He had one clear message for fans: please don’t believe them.

What makes this even more interesting is that Vijay Sethupathi himself previously admitted to not yet knowing the full details of his own character in the film — a testament to how secretively Vetrimaaran operates. That creative mystique from the director’s end may well be what fuels these kinds of speculation spirals in the first place.

## Why Arasan Is Such a Big Deal

*Arasan* marks the **first-ever collaboration between Silambarasan TR and director Vetrimaaran** — a pairing that Tamil cinema fans have long wished for. Set in the extended universe of Vetrimaaran’s acclaimed *Vada Chennai* (which starred Dhanush), *Arasan* is expected to be a gritty gangster epic that showcases STR in a rugged, raw action avatar.

Add **Anirudh Ravichander** scoring the music — one of Indian cinema’s most prolific composers — and you have a project generating serious anticipation. Vijay Sethupathi’s confirmed presence only deepens the intrigue. His ability to bring complex, layered menace to supporting roles is well-documented, and audiences are eager to see what kind of character Vetrimaaran has designed for him. ## What’s Next for Both Stars

Beyond *Arasan*, Vijay Sethupathi has a packed slate — *Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road* (directed by Puri Jagannadh, co-starring Samyuktha and Tabu), *Pocket Novel* (reuniting with *Super Deluxe* director Thiagarajan Kumararaja), and a cameo in **Jailer 2**. STR, meanwhile, is also attached to *STR51*, a fantasy action entertainer directed by *Dragon* director Ashwath Marimuthu.
