Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna visited Thummanpet on June 14, 2026, to personally hand out educational scholarships to talented students from the Achampet Mandal region of Telangana.

The actors, who have maintained a strong public friendship for years, chose to return to the village that’s the birthplace of [Vijay](https://technosports.co.in/thalapathy-vijay-turns-52-and-mersal-is-coming/)’s father. This visit formalised a commitment they first shared back in February. Now officially known as the Virosh Scholarship, this initiative operates under the Deverakonda Charitable Trust and aims to provide financial support for students in the 9th and 10th grades.

As reported by [The Indian Express](https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/telugu/vijay-deverakonda-rashmika-mandanna-visit-village-to-fulfil-promise-made-on-wedding-day-10739010/), the visit allowed the stars to connect directly with rural youth.

Both actors have become national names—Vijay gained fame through films like Liger (2022), while [Rashmika](https://technosports.co.in/tag/rashmika-mandanna/) made waves after her Bollywood debut in Goodbye (2022). However, during their address, they emphasized the importance of academic discipline over just raw talent. Vijay, born on May 9, 1989, in Hyderabad, shared a personal insight, admitting he and Rashmika weren’t top academic performers during their school days.

**[Verdict]** The Virosh Scholarship marks a shift towards sustained grassroots philanthropy in the Telugu film industry, moving beyond one-off donations to long-term educational mentorship.

## Vijay Deverakonda: Impact of the Virosh Scholarship on Rural Education

The Virosh Scholarship initiative, a name created by fans that combines the two popular actors’ names, focuses on students during their crucial formative years. By targeting the 9th and 10th grades, the Deverakonda Charitable Trust aims to lower the dropout rate in the Achampet Mandal and encourage students to stay academically engaged.

During the event, Vijay stressed that the scholarship’s monetary value is secondary to the mentorship message he aims to deliver. He expressed his desire to expand this model, taking the program from his father’s [village](https://technosports.co.in/a-94-year-old-village-that-can-only-sing-sing-geetham/) to wider regions throughout Telangana.

This collaboration highlights how well-known stars can impact regional development. As celebrities increasingly use their vast fan bases for social causes, this topic has gained considerable attention.

With Rashmika, born on April 5, 1996, in Virajpet, actively involved in the outreach efforts, the duo showcased a united front in their philanthropic aims. The real question is whether other industry peers can replicate this localized scholarship distribution model. If it proves effective, the Virosh Scholarship could redefine how film stars connect with the communities that support their careers.

## Vijay Deverakonda: Future Plans for the Deverakonda Charitable Trust

Looking ahead, the Virosh Scholarship team plans to track the academic progress of the current recipients to assess the program’s long-term viability. Vijay’s ambition to expand the initiative beyond Thummanpet indicates this is just the beginning of a broader educational strategy.

As the actors continue with their film commitments, their involvement in this trust shows a genuine investment in the socio-economic development of rural Telangana. We look forward to further updates on the scholarship program’s expansion as the academic year unfolds.
