Barcelona’s new manager, Ronald Koeman has decided to do away with the old guard at Barca. Despite joining the Spanish giants at the age of 30, that rank includes Chilean midfielder, Arturo Vidal.
He joined Barcelona from Bayern for £35 million in 2018. With his contract set to expire next summer, Barcelona are looking to make some money off of him rather than lose him for free next summer.
Inter is the club that has been heavily linked as Vidal’s next destination, and it could be a reality in the next few days.Â
If rumours are to be believed, the former Juventus man will return to Italy this week to complete his transfer to Milan.Â
Despite managing to offload one of their older players, Barcelona will only get €1 million from the transfer. While that is a lot of money to the rest of the world, in the context of European football, it is peanuts.
The miniscule nature of that figure becomes evident when you compare it with the sort of money splashed around in the transfer market.Â
Nevertheless, Vidal looks set to reunite with former manager Antonio Conte at Inter. The drama lies in the fact that the two former Juventus players will look to usurp the Old Lady’s almost decade long grip over the Scudetto, in the upcoming season.
Inter looked confident at the top before inconsistencies set in and Juventus capitalised on their rivals’ weaknesses. With the signing of Vidal, Conte will look to stabilise the midfield with the Chilean’s vast experience of the game at a high level.
Having previously played for the biggest teams in three different countries, Vidal is no stranger to pressure. With Pirlo’s inexperience at the helm of a club, Conte could pounce and shatter the hopes of Juventus trying to make it ten in a row.
Inter finished only one point behind Juventus last season, and the title race promises to be the most exciting one in all of Europe.
