Venom: The Last Dance marks the end of Venom’s trilogy, and the end of Tom Hardy’s time as Eddie Brock and the iconic symbiote. More About the Venom: The Last Dance
The Last Dance begins with the god of symbiote himself, Knull (Andy Serkis), sealed away upon the planet known as Klyntar. Using the Codex, which is another force tied to Venom since Eddie almost died, he wants to escape. And that opens the doorway for Knull’s army, the Xenophages, to come to Earth in order to try to take Eddie once he is properly Venom and all that. Eddie and Venom go on the run to save the Codex from the Xenophages and the government that blames Eddie for crimes from the past.
That falls into the purview of Area 55 agents Dr. Teddy Payne (Juno Temple) and Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who are part of a secret government program devoted to alien investigation. It is also home to a number of other symbiotes, including Toxin (bonded to Patrick Mulligan), who warns everyone that Knull is coming to destroy the universe. While in Area 55, the Xenophage attacks and joins into a chaotic battle, where other symbiotes sided with humans to defend against the threat.
In the climactic scene, Venom destroys the Codex and prevents Knull from taking over the world by sacrificing himself. Though she defeats the Xenophages, Venom seemingly perishes in a bath of acid and Eddie is left on his own. A general ascends the ladder, telling Eddie that all of his crimes are wiped away, provided he never speaks about the incident. Eddie then goes to the Statue of Liberty in NYC, where he swears he will never forget Venom.
Knull has more yet to come, as the post-credits scenes remind us that potential future films may follow this story. Also, a shattered ampoule containing a symbiote predicts that Venom will be back, and a blurred face, perhaps connected to Anne Weying has her true fiancée, Doctor Dan Lewis, leaves us with unanswered questions about what other twists and turns we can expect from Sony‘s Marvel universe.
